Bharatanatyam
Foundational adavus, hand mudras, and abhinaya storytelling for ages 6 and up.
For over a decade Kittu's Institute of Dance has been Lenawee County's home for classical Indian, contemporary, ballet, and Bollywood training — taught with patience, precision, and warmth.

Sharon Smith founded Kittu's Institute of Dance in 2014 with a simple belief: every student — whatever their age, background, or experience — deserves a teacher who truly sees them. From a single rented hall on Ridge Lane to today's dedicated studio, our school has grown one family at a time.
We honor the centuries-old grammar of Bharatanatyam and Kathak, the playful spirit of Bollywood, and the discipline of ballet and contemporary technique. Most importantly, we honor the time you trust us with.

My daughter went from shy to glowing in one semester. The instructors are technically rigorous but never harsh — exactly what we hoped for.
I'm 47 and started Bharatanatyam here from zero. Sharon makes the studio feel like home. I look forward to Tuesday nights more than anything.
The annual recital was incredible — beautifully produced, warm, full of pride. You can feel how much care goes into every detail.
