Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the things parents and new students ask most.

Do I need any prior experience?

No. The majority of our students start with zero dance background, including many adults. We place new students based on age and a short conversation — not auditions.

What should my child wear to the first class?

Comfortable, fitted clothing — leggings or shorts and a tee work perfectly. Bare feet are standard for classical Indian and contemporary; soft ballet shoes for ballet; sneakers for hip-hop. We sell basic gear at cost in-studio.

How big are the classes?

Most classes are capped at twelve students. A few popular adult drop-ins go up to fifteen.

Do you offer trial classes?

Yes — your first class in any age-appropriate program is free. Just email or call us to reserve a spot.

Is there a recital?

Yes, every spring. Participation is encouraged but never required. We also host smaller in-studio showings each term.

What is your refund policy?

Tuition is refundable within the first two weeks of a term, less a small administrative fee. After that, we offer credit toward a future term in case of medical or relocation issues.

Do you offer scholarships?

Yes — need-based partial scholarships are available each term. Please email ads@kittusinstituteofdance.com; we keep all requests confidential.

Is the studio accessible?

The studio is on a single level with step-free entry. Restrooms are ADA-accessible. Please let us know in advance if any accommodation would help.

Can parents watch class?

Yes. We have a viewing area with seating where parents and family are welcome at any time.
